International Holocaust Remembrance Day, in Kielce

27th JANUARY, 2020 was special due to two anniversaries related to the memory of Holocaust:

the 15th anniversary of the adoption of 27th January as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day by the United Nations General Assembly.

the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz - German Nazi concentration and extermination camp.

At our school, we also observed that anniversary and joined several activities commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day: we talked and discussed about that period during special edition of history lessons, joined workshop activities about the Holocaust, made presentations and small school display. We also supported the event organized by Jan Karski Society (our partner institution which ran a workshop for participants of our 3rd Mobility in Kielce, on 9 Oct, 2019).

The gathering took place on 27th Jan, 2020 at 5pm by the Menora Monument which marks the entrance gate to the former ghetto in the city of Kielce. This formal appeal was to commemorate 20 000 Jews who died there.
