Tolerance and respect for others
By Tamara Hachulska, Poland
Anna Frank's life story was the starting point for a discussion on tolerance, respect for others, regardless of the differences in views, descent, religions in our school on 6.02.2019 by Mr. Mateusz Trojański representing Anna Frank House in Amsterdam.
Pupils from several classes of the first 7th grade were thinking about the consequences of contempt and hatred and what actions should be promoted in order to be able to understand and accept each other. The psychological and sociological aspects of hiding in the contemporary world were also discussed in an interactive way.
The meeting was also one of the stages for preparing Erasmus + project participants to go on their first work visit to Arlon, in Belgium, in March 2019. Mr. Mateusz introduced students to the subject of the project, familiarized with the historical background of events in the life of Anne Frank, and joint discussions caused various reflections on fear / courage / honor / honesty. Another activity the students are currently developing is reading "Dziennik Anna Frank" as well as completing tasks using ICT tools on the eTwinning platform.
On the 14th of February another workshop took place, guided as well by Mr. Mr. Mateusz Trojański, on the theme "Love instead of hate". It was an unusual Valentine's Day in VII LO.
