LTTA4: Portugal

25-05-2020

Between the 16th and the 23rd of March 2020, the 4th mobility of the project would take place: the Portuguese mobility.

A week full of activities was planned that would certainly please all students and teachers involved in the project. The week's theme was dedicated to the Portuguese hero who saved thirty thousand people, mostly Jews, from the Holocaust of World War II: Aristides de Sousa Mendes.

At school, Portuguese students prepared a panel with the image of the Consul of Bordeaux, using the Pop Art technique, which would be completed during the mobility week, as it would also count on the collaboration of Dutch, Belgian and Polish students. It was planned to offer this panel to the Aristides de Sousa Mendes Foundation, which provided us with information about the Consul so that we could set up an original exhibition. In addition, the 20th was going to be dedicated to the official closing of the project and we expected the presence of several individuals who with us and with the teachers of the intervening European schools would come to celebrate and close the journey that was made in this project over the last two academic years. Among the individuals who confirmed their presence at this event were the Ambassador of the Netherlands and the Consul of Poland.

In Portugal, this week's activities were prepared by different teachers from various disciplines who integrated them into the curriculum of their classes. A large number of students participated in these activities that had a major impact on the school.

For all the above, it was with great regret that, due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19 and the implementation of Contingency Plans, we were forced to cancel all activities planned for this week.

As an example, we leave some images of the works of the students who would form the panel on Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
